Looking Forward in Faith

Our Church

The Parish and members of the congregation regularly pray for the school community. Christine Murihead, Margaret Hyde and Lisa Nicholson are Foundation Governors. Members o of the church are always there for former pupils to celebrate times in their lives, whether for baptisms or weddings. Equally, they are there when times are tough. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if needed. Please click here to contact Fr Robert.

We visit the church often as part of our curriculum and Mass. The children are very much involved in planning and preparing for the Mass whether that is through class or the Faith Team. These times of worship are very special and provide all children with the opportunity to engage in worship at an age appropriate level. They also provide children with the opportunity to be still, quiet and reflective on the things that are important in life to them.

Church Services

St Helen’s Day Mass

Children from Years 1 to 6 visited St Helen’s Church to celebrate St Helen’s Day with a special service of reflection and thanksgiving. Together, they joined in prayers, hymns, and activities to mark the occasion and to learn more about the life of St Helen. St Helen is remembered as the mother of Emperor Constantine and is celebrated for her kindness, faith, and for discovering the True Cross in Jerusalem. The children enjoyed coming together as a school community to honour her legacy and to think about how her example of courage and compassion can inspire us today.

Ash Wednesday Sung Mass

On Ash Wednesday Years 5 and 6 participated in the Sung Mass at Saint Helen’s Church which marks the beginning of Lent. The sense of awe and wonder that the children manifest was palpable and their engagement and behaviour were exemplary, as we explored together how Christians keep the holy season of Lent. A church warden commented: “There was good participation. The behaviour was exemplary and I have to say they were all a real credit to the school. Thank you again.”
